A growing number of Canadian families are realizing their dreams of becoming parents through adoption of babies from China. Over 8,000 Chinese have been adopted by Canadians since 1989. MADE IN CHINA tells the story of several remarkable children from China between the ages of five and thirteen who make 3 regions of Canada - British Columbia, Quebec and Newfoundland - their home. What does it mean to live in a trans racial adoptive family? How do these children adapt to their environments and how do they cope with their biological identity and racial differences? These questions, and others, are addressed poinantly by the girls and boys featured in this documentary. MADE IN CHINA shows how Canadians have gone beyond national boundaries to create global families as well as build bridges to help their adopted children discover and understand their hybrid identities.
