Title:
Canoe kids. Volume 2, The Haida of Haida Gwaii
Summary:
Canoe Kids is an authentic exploration of Indigenous Cultures. Each volume focuses on one culture. We embed ourselves within the community and experience the culture, land spirituality, food, music, art, dance, harvesting and learn to live well and properly with Mother Earth. We explore the historical and connect to the present through interviews and pictures. Our publication has been compared to a cross between National Geographic and Time Magazine. Each volume includes an entire section of the vessel of the culture. Volume 2 the second issue focuses on the Haida Nation of Haida Gwaii. In 160 pages the reader is introduced to the Haida people who kindly assisted the Canoe Kids staff by allowing access to Haida territory. Canoe Kids acknowledges the generosity of the Council of Haida Nation, the Haida Museum and the Haida Heritage Centre. Each volume has an ancient story, (many of which have never been in print before) Each volume has teachings about food, harvesting and living well with the land and each other. There is also a kids zone and an art zone and recipes too. Each volume is approximately 140 pages long.
