Several articles discuss issues surrounding democracy. Since the end of the Cold War, democracy has become increasingly common as a system of government around the globe. However, a number of regimes continue to resist domestic and international pressures to democratize. Meanwhile, efforts to promote democracy have met with mixed success. The viewpoints in this book examine a range of issues and controveries surrounding the spread and maintenance of democracy around the world.
