"Perspectives on Ideology" Teacher Resource contains print and digital resources that provide a springboard to address curriculum outcomes for the Alberta Social Studies 30-1 Program of Studies to help students think critically about the relationship among identity, citizenship and ideology, and about the origins, complexities and issues related to ideologies, including liberalism. This related teaching resource (including an accompanying 30-1 digital resource, ExCite, available on www.learnalberta.ca) that have been developed by Oxford University Press and Image Works. The resources provide an introduction that contains a foundation for the big ideas in the course regarding ideologies and issues and 14 chapters that approach the curriculum outcomes sequentially in four parts, which generally correspond with the four Related Issues of the course. The chapters include examples, sources and features that help to guide learning. These features include a chapter issue in each chapter that helps to break down and explore the related issues and key issue in the course; questions for inquiry in each chapter that further break down the ideas and help to explore each chapter issue; support for key skills, concepts and terms in each chapter that help to illustrate and apply questions for inquiry and each chapter issue; and other features, text and visuals that help to provide concrete examples to illustrate and apply learning and skill development; e.g., Voices, Skill Path, Investigation and File Facts features; a glossary and an index; Resource Masters (RMs) and Assessment Masters (AMs); possible responses to questions in the student resource; sample teaching activities for the course. The digital resource for 30-1, ExCite, supports learning in the printed resources and has students critically explore video and sources from multiple perspectives around the world.
