Based upon a true event, the story takes place in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II. A fisherman in Friesland, a northern province in The Netherlands, who has helped people who are hiding from the Germans is taken into custody. His interrogator uses his psychological skills to try to trap the fisherman into cooperating. But the fisherman will not accept his ultimate defeat without turning it into victory. A classic tragedy that illustrates the depth of human courage.
