Dieppe
Title:
Dieppe
Summary:
A historically-based, partly fictionalized account of the politics, planning and rivalries involved in the Dieppe Raid, on August 19, 1942, which involved Canadian forces. After three years of training, Canadian troops are eager to get into the fray. Dieppe is chosen as the site of the largest amphibious raid of the war. High level political machinations begin to eat away at the original plan. The lone voice of dissent, commander of the Canadian troops, Major-General Hamilton Roberts, knows the attack is doomed ... but is ordered to go ahead. For nearly 3,000 brave Canadian soldiers, the war ended in the bloodbath at Dieppe.
