At the age of nineteen, Amanda Lindhout moved from Red Deer to Calgary and began to travel the globe. She backpacked through Latin America, Laos, Bangladesh, and India, and, emboldened by each experience, went on to travel solo across Sudan, Syria, and Pakistan.
