An eight-year-old Australian boy, abandoned by his mother, goes to live with his elderly grandmother in a deserted trailer park. Contemporary issues of single parenthood, abuse, relationships, and loneliness coupled with excellent cinematography make this a highly motivational tool for teaching some elements of the short story: character development, conflict, metaphor, and symbolism.
