Reader Reviews
Pete's big lunch is about Pete the cat being hungry and deciding to make a sandwich. No matter what he puts on the sandwich it just isn't big enough. After adding about 15 ingredients, Pete decides his sandwich is much too big. To solve his problem he calls all of his friends and they come over and all enjoy Pete's sandwich!

I liked this book. This book did a great job with character development. The main character was interesting and funny. Additionally he stayed the same throughout the story and was repetitive in his actions and words which is great for young readers. An example of this is when Pete begins making his sandwich and says that it is not big enough because he is very hungry. On the next page, he adds two items to the sandwich and repeats the same lines which leads to another thought out quality that this book possessed, plot. The plot was very much like the main character in development. It was predictable and repetitive but remained interesting. The author made sure that the plot was easy to follow and moved at an appropriate pace. The author did not spend too much time on one part of the sandwich or another and when inviting friends over, the author took them asking questions and eating at a pace that felt authentic. The main purpose for writing this story was to entertain a young audience and encourage them to love reading! (read less)
