Ming has come from China to live with his father and his grandmother. He misses his home in China and because of his difficulty with English, he also has a hard time making new friends. One day, Ming finds a turle which he names Friendly. When Ming takes Friendly to school the next day, his new pet makes quite a splash, and wins Ming a new friend.
