Med is recovering from rheumatic fever. So her grandmother give her the old-fashioned family doll named Jessie. Meg thinks she is too old for dolls - until she falls asleep holding Jessie, and wakes up to discover she's gone back in time. Now Meg has become Morag, a girl traveling west across the Canadian prairied by covered wagon. Soon, with Jessie's help, Meg is traveling back and forth between the past and the present.
