The best books of poetry published in English internationally and in Canada are honoured each year with the Griffin Poetry Prize. The 2008 Griffin Poetry Prize Anthology includes poems from the exceptional books shortlisted by judges George Bowering, James Lasdun, and Pura López Colomé. It gathers together an absolute whoś who of contemporary poets and introduces readers to some of the finest works within their short-listed collections. Royalties from the sales of the anthologies are donated to UNESCO's World Poetry Day, created to support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard in their communities.
