Resumen:
When Little Miss discovers she will become a big sis(ter), she is excited and most of the time, an adoring older sibling. For anyone who is awaiting the arrival a new brother or sister, this story is a treat. It tells of the highs and lows of being an older sibling. It is traditional in that the older sibling is a sister, who does the nurturing and modeling for her younger sibling. One wonders what the story might have looked like with an older brother doing the nurturing? The pictures primarily carry the story making use of the keywords or short phrases in rhyme. The gentle images of soft colours and crisp black line drawings on a white background focuses readers to ‘read’ the body language of the characters. Young children/families who are expecting a new arrival to the family will enjoy this book. It will provide young children with a realistic view of the ups and downs in preparing to become a sibling. Useful for Grade 1 Social Studies Curriculum: Families/Changes.--Fern Rierson
