Cree people make up the largest First Nation in Canada and had an important role in the foundation of this country. The author, Phyllis Cardinal spent many hours with elder Agatha Cardinal from Saddle Lake, Alberta. Her stories became the conversation between grandmother and granddaughter that runs through the text in this book.
