Resumen:
In 1921, twelve-year-old Ruth spends her summer at the University of Toronto and is befriended by Dr. Banting and his assistant, Mr. Best, who are searching for a cure for diabetes. When animal rights protestors try to enlist her support, Ruth is torn between loyalty to her new friends and her sympathy for the animals used in their research.
