Returning to Kenya after a long absence, Wangari Maathai, or Mama Miti as she came to be called, discovered that natural resources were being destroyed and many people who lived off the land were suffering. Though she planned to reverse the damage by planting trees, Maathai eventually found herself invovled in a battle with Kenya's corrupt government.
