Yikang's day starts early, with a ride to school on the back of her father's bicycle. She holds on tight at they travel toward Changzhi center, passing corn and millet fields on the way. Yikang mustn't be late this morning: It's the last day of school before National Day and there's going to be a special flag-raising ceremony to celebrate.
