Reading With Strategies was created by cerfified Reading Recovery teachers to provide all teachers of primary children with a motivational and interactive resource to teach and support the earliest reading strategies in a group setting. It is presented in a poster format for flexibility of presentation and for additional use in classrooms. Since their introduction, the interactive posters have been fine-tuned over a five year period. They have been used within heterogeneous primary and intermediate classrooms, Title 1 groups and parent workshops, as well as in staff development setting to help educate teachers, administrators and school board members. The objective of using the posters are to create * Readers who are independent problem solvers. * Readers who use multiple strategies that are interwoven, balanced, and can be called upon at difficulty. * Readers who have developed a self-extending system, therefore become better readers every time they read.
